Every great mission begins with a spark. For Krystal Lewis, founder of Just HOPE, Inc., that spark ignited from a deeply personal place: the raw, lived experience of homelessness. Eleven years ago, with just her couponing skills, a pantry stockpile, and an old delivery car, Krystal set out to feed hungry mouths. She never imagined that quiet act of kindness would blossom into a ministry that has guided over 800 families from the brink of homelessness into the stability of their own homes.
Krystal knows the silent struggle of living in a car, in camps, or on borrowed couches. At 23, after a series of traumas, she found herself exactly there. It was a complete stranger’s compassionate “hand up”—not judgment—that offered her a basement to sleep in and a chance to get back on her feet. That life-changing act forged Krystal’s lifelong devotion: to “be that person that I had needed for others.”
